The Perfect Gift: Books

Whether you’re shopping for yourself, a friend, a loved one, or a colleague, a book is one of the best values around for the giver and the recipient. For the price of a two-hour theater movie you can have ten or more times the entertainment hours, and you can carry them around in your pocket or purse to enjoy at your convenience.

Books are full of ideas as well as stories. They can take us in our minds to places our bodies don’t have the time or ability to visit. They can introduce us to concepts, relationships, emotions and more that we haven’t yet experienced, and to those we have experienced and can now relate to.

Books are for sharing. You can borrow them for free if you have a library card, and if you have a generous friend who has books of their own. You can trade them with fellow readers, in person, or in community spaces. You can pass your favorites around so others can enjoy them as much as you have.

Books travel easier than ever, now that we have digital versions on our electronic devices. And print books can be taken just about anywhere without having to recharge them.

To make it easy for you, I’ve put my two books, The Cure and Unintended Consequences, on sale for under ten dollars each through the end of 2019. Just click here, and purchase as many copies as you need for holiday giving. And don’t forget to treat yourself, too.

Happy holidays from me to you and yours, and best wishes for a healthy new year.
